![]() I am huge soccer fan. I love to play but I also enjoy watching a great game! One of my favorite soccer players is Cat Whitehill. She is an amazing soccer player. She's been playing since she's been a little girl. She has won a ton of trophies in her lifetime. She made sure to go to a college with a good soccer program so she could continue to play while also getting a college education. The word is that in her first year of college she was named the rookie player of the year and was honored as the Most Valuable Defensive Player of the NCAA Final Four. Her senior year, she was The Honda Award soccer winner signifying her as the nation's most outstanding female athlete in her sport. She also took her team to the NCAA Championship where they finished off a perfect record- awesome! She was the youngest player selected for the 2003 FIFA Women's World Cup scoring 2 goals against North Korea. Cat was a starter in 5 of the U.S. team's 6 matches. Not only was she the youngest selected, but it was the first time in U.S. Women's National Team history that a defender scored 2 goals in a game. The coolest thing was her gold medal. In 2004, she played on the Olympic team in Athens, Greece where she helped her team win the gold! I read once that Cat said that the most important thing when playing soccer is to always have fun. Even if I don't win a bunch of trophies, I'll still kick the ball around and take her advice – I'll always try to have a good time. |
